Here are some of the outside readings and materials that I've found particularly helpful

This whole site, though now largely defunct, was an enormous help. This page in particular was the most help, so I'm linking to it directly. I came into this class as an absolute neophyte when it came to graphic design. I knew when things looked good, but couldn't define why if you put a gun to my head. So having a basic definition sheet to work from was hugely helpful, and let me know what terms I should even be entering into the search bar when looking for answers.

This is another older site that I found really useful. This is put together by a visual artist talking about some of the basics of visual design. There are hand-written examples and notes sprinkled throughout that I found really helpful for kind of framing design philosophy in concrete examples. This is by no means a comprehensive guide, but considering the level I was at, it really helped me.

Here was a video that I found very helpful when putting together the final product on Weebly. Weebly is a good resource, and has a lot of options, but I'm a visual thinker and really benefit from someone walking me through the process with the current interface.
